INDIAN NAVY:The strength of the Indian Navy is going to increase further. In a big boost to the Navy, the Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the acquisition of over 200 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for deployment on warships.

 

19000 crore deal approved

Top government sources told ANI that the deal worth around Rs 19,000 crore was approved in the meeting held on Wednesday evening. The contract between BrahMos Aerospace and the Defense Ministry is set to be signed in the first week of March.

 

Main weapon for BrahMos warships

BrahMos Missiles are the main weapon for anti-ship and strike operations for Indian Navy warships, which routinely fire the weapon system.

 

BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture between India and Russia and produces supersonic cruise missiles, which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land platforms.

 

 Preparation to export to Philippines also

BrahMos missile has been extensively indigenized by BrahMos Corporation and most of its parts are being indigenized.

BrahMos missile is also set to be exported soon to the Philippines, which is its first global customer.

 Many countries are showing interest in buying missiles

Let us tell you that many countries are showing interest in BrahMos missile. Many countries in the South East Asian region have shown serious interest in this missile system for deployment in multiple modes.

BrahMos Aerospace, headed by Atul Rane, is also working towards achieving the export target of USD 5 billion set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BrahMos chairman had said that after the first export deal of $375 million with the Philippines, his team is targeting $5 billion by 2025.
