Indonesia: Due to sudden rains, floods and landslides occurred in Sumatra island of Indonesia, about 10 people died, 10 other people went missing, 36 villages were affected in which about 83 thousand people became homeless.

Due to sudden torrential rains the water level of the river increased, causing sudden floods. Floods and landslides have affected Pesisir Selatan regency in West Sumatra province, leaving about 46,000 people homeless, with all homeless people forced to resort to temporary shelters. Tons of soil, rocks and uprooted trees rolled down a mountain and into a river late at night, said Donny Yusrijal, chief of Pesisir Selatan’s disaster mitigation agency. Several banks were then breached and a mountain in the Pesisir Selatan district of West Sumatra province collapsed. There was flood in the villages.
