Indore IT Raid: The Income Tax Department has seized cash, gold and other valuables worth Rs 25 crore by conducting raids in Indore, Ratlam and Khargone; the raid operation ended after about 60 hours on the third day.

Income Tax Raid: The Indore branch of the Income Tax Department has seized cash, gold and other valuables worth Rs 25 crore in three simultaneous operations in Indore, Ratlam and Khargone. The seized items include cash worth Rs 8.5 crore, 16 kg gold worth Rs 11.84 crore and other valuables and diamonds. This action was taken on firms related to hundi (cash loan), hawala business and dal mill business.

In Indore, action was taken against Kataria Finance run by Dilsukh Kataria and his three brothers at its offices in Janaki Nagar and Naulakha. The Kataria brothers are considered the biggest ‘hundi’ operators in this region. According to sources, Rs 5 crore in cash, 13 kg gold worth Rs 9.32 crore and other valuables have been seized.

The action ended after about 60 hours

In Khargone, Income Tax officials raided the RM Dal Mill owned by the Mahajan family on Bistan Road. Here, the team seized Rs 1.4 crore in cash and 2 kg gold jewellery worth Rs 1.48 crore. The Income Tax Department’s raid operation at four places in Khargone ended on the third day, after about 60 hours.

From 6 am on Wednesday, Income Tax Department officials and employees from Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Maharashtra carried out the operation continuously for 60 hours. During this time, the Income Tax Department team searched documents in all the four firms day and night.

The operation is over

The operation has ended at four places including Shri Prabhu Traders, Shri Hari Enterprises, Radhakrishna Mathuralal Dal Mill and RM Ishan Cold Storage in Khargone city. More than 30 Income Tax Department officials and employees from Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Maharashtra were conducting continuous action since Wednesday.

Ratlam’s notorious hawala operator also tightened its grip

Income Tax officials also tightened their grip on Ratlam’s biggest hawala operator Manish Patwa. Manish has been on the radar of Income Tax earlier also, but no seizure could be made. This time the Income Tax Department officials took action on the basis of intelligence and seized cash and important documents from near the wash basin. Rs 1.7 crore cash and important documents were seized from Patwa.
