Still, questions were raised about the consistency of Hardik’s performance and commitment to Indian cricket. Regular participation in domestic cricket is necessary to serve Indian cricket throughout the year. Injuries are a different thing, but a proper plan that involves playing matches continuously, including domestic cricket, is important for a player’s comeback. There is also a player who returns without fulfilling the same requirements. This should not happen as it sends the wrong message to the rest of the team.
‘Hardik does not deserve to be the vice-captain’
Irfan said, on the questions that have come up on making Hardik Pandya the vice-captain, I understand the logic behind it due to the importance of continuity in leadership. Looking at the current performance, it is understandable for the selectors to opt for continuity. However, I believe that a player like Bumrah is not a bad choice. I believe that Hardik does not deserve to be the vice-captain.
