Tel Aviv: The war between Israel and Hamas continues and there is no sign of it stopping at the moment. US President Joe Biden has once again spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The talks between the two leaders come at a time when there is increasing pressure between Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement to free some hostages and end the ceasefire in Gaza. The White House, the official residence and office of the US President, gave this information on Sunday.
Tension between America and Israel
The White House said in a statement that Biden reiterated his “clear stance” amid Israel’s plan to attack the city of Rafah, located on the southern edge of Gaza. More than 1 million Palestinians have taken refuge in Rafah and countries around the world have expressed concern about Israel’s invasion plan. America has also opposed the attack on humanitarian grounds, due to which there has been tension in the relations between the allies America and Israel. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is on a visit to West Asia amid the rift in relations between America and Israel.
‘The responsibility will be on Hamas’
According to the statement, during a phone conversation with Netanyahu, Biden stressed the need to continue to move forward in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza and increase this supply. A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the two leaders spoke on the phone for about an hour and they agreed that the responsibility of accepting the new proposal during the talks would be on Hamas. Netanyahu’s office has not yet given any information in this regard.
