A terrible accident came to light in Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir. A bus full of passengers met with an accident in the Banihal-Qazigund Nayug tunnel. This accident happened on Wednesday evening. Dozens of people have been injured in this bus accident.

Officials said that an SRTC bus met with an accident inside the Banihal-Qazigund Nayug tunnel. So far 12 people have been injured in the bus accident. At the same time, 5 have been admitted to GMC Anantnag Hospital.

How did the accident happen?

Officials said that the bus going from Jammu to Srinagar was trying to avoid the collision, but collided with the wall of the Qazigund-Banihal tunnel and overturned. Officials said that the bus was going from Jammu to Srinagar when this accident happened in the tunnel. He said that at least 12 people have been injured in this accident, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. From where five of them have been shifted to GMC Anantnag Hospital.

Dr Shugafta Salam MS Qazigund said that we have found injured people, five of them have been shifted from Qazigund Hospital to GMC Anantnag. An official said that after the bus accident, traffic inside the tunnel was suspended and all the injured were taken to Qazigund Hospital for treatment.

Traffic restored

Athan Company official Mohammad Arif Tantre said that traffic has been restored from both sides by removing the bus from the middle of the tunnel. He said that earlier the movement of traffic was stopped from both sides of the tunnel and a recovery van was called to lift the bus from the spot. Actually, the Banihal-Qazigund four-lane tunnel is 8.5 km long and the responsibility of maintaining this tunnel lies with the Athan Company.
