Abdullah, who arrived in Delhi for the first time after taking over as the CM of the state last week, held a meeting with the Home Minister for about 30 minutes. Abdullah later said that it was a courtesy call, during which he apprised the Union Home Minister of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and also discussed the issue of restoring statehood.

With this, the number of NC MLAs in the 95-member House has come down to 41, although the party still has a majority with the support of 6 Congress, 5 independents and one MLA each from Aam Aadmi Party and CPI(M).
