Jammu and Kashmir: Landslide incident in Reasi district, a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajinder Singh Rana and his son died, wife and two others injured after a stone fell from the hill on the vehicle

A landslide has occurred in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. A Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajinder Singh Rana and his son died after a stone fell from a hill on a vehicle. His wife and two others were injured.

Was going to his native village with family
This landslide incident took place in Salukh Ikhtar Nala area on Thursday night when Rajinder Singh Rana was going from Dharmari to his native village Pattiya with his family. Officials said that due to the landslide, a big stone hit the vehicle, killing Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officer Rana and his son on the spot.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. After first aid, the seriously injured were referred to the district hospital in Reasi. Rana, a 2011 batch officer, was posted as Ramnagar SDM. Earlier, two army personnel were killed when a stone fell from a rock on an army vehicle in eastern Ladakh.

LG Manoj Sinha expressed grief over this incident

On this incident, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed condolences to the family of the SDM. He wrote on the social media platform X, ‘I am deeply saddened by the landslide incident in Dharmari, Reasi, in which we have lost an officer, Rajinder Singh, JKAS 2011, SDM Ramnagar and his son. This tragedy is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. I pray that the people injured in this incident recover soon.’

Dr Gopal Dutt, Medical Superintendent of Reasi District Hospital said, ‘As soon as we got information about the incident, we sent two ambulances to the spot. 6 people were admitted to the hospital. We have lost a young officer in this incident.’
