Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the fear of terrorism and its associated network in the valley is now almost over, recruitment of terrorists at the local level is almost zero

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in a statement on Saturday that the fear of terrorism and its associated network in the valley is now almost over. Talking to the members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor said that so far this year only one local youth has been confirmed to be recruited in a terrorist organization. Today the situation in Kashmir has improved a lot. Investment is also increasing in districts like Anantnag and Pulwama. Especially in Pulwama, more industrial units are being set up than in Srinagar.

He said that the Pulwama district which used to remain in the news for wrong reasons, now the youth has participated enthusiastically in the rallies during the Tiranga Abhiyan. The world has seen how thousands of youth showed solidarity against the terrorists by holding the Indian tricolor in their hands. Those villages of Shopian and Pulwama where neither the police nor any government official used to go, but now the youth are playing their part in it even by coming out of these villages. Referring to the changes in Kashmir, Manoj Sinha said that the Lal Chowk which used to become sad after sunset, now remains alive even in the late evening.

Decline in recruitment of terrorists

He said that whether it is a city or a village, slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai are resonating. Earlier, strikes used to take place for 150-150 days in the valley at the behest of the neighbouring country, but not a single strike has been held in the last five years. Recruitment of terrorists is almost zero at the local level. Only one recruitment has taken place this year so far. Earlier, stone pelting used to take place at some place or the other every day, but now it has become history. There was a time when the entire valley would come to a standstill if a terrorist was killed. Shops closed, schools and colleges closed, but now that era is over.

Changing thinking of Kashmir

Manoj Sinha further said that the protest seen in Kashmir after the attack in Pahalgam on April 22 is a sign of necessary change. People saw that after the Pahalgam attack, for a week the local people protested strongly against terrorism and Pakistan. Regarding this, the elders also said that such an atmosphere was never seen before. Manoj Sinha said that this clearly shows that the thinking of Kashmir is changing. The whole country is behind the change coming in the valley.
