A major accident has happened in Kathua, Jammu. 6 people died in a fire in a house here. All are said to have died due to suffocation. According to the information received so far, 9 people were sleeping in the house. Three people fainted in the smoke arising from the fire. Local people rushed to help as soon as they got information about the accident. Meanwhile, a neighbouring youth fainted while taking out the people trapped in the fire from the house. The incident took place in Shivanagar, Kathua. The cause of the fire is said to be an electrical short circuit in the house.
The deceased include people from the same family, including 2 children. The accident is said to have happened around 2:30 in the morning. All the members of the house were sleeping when the accident happened. Seeing the flames of fire in the house, there was a panic among the people around. The doctor of Kathua Government Medical College said that 10 people were brought to the hospital for treatment. 6 of them had already died. He said that all died due to suffocation caused by smoke.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the fire service and police reached the spot. The fire was brought under control by the fire brigade. According to the local people, the house was engulfed in smoke due to the fire. People entered the house and started evacuating the people present there. Meanwhile, when a neighbouring youth reached inside the house, he fainted due to suffocation. People told that the fire started due to an electrical short circuit which suddenly flared up rapidly.

The fire killed 6 people present in the house, who have been identified as 3-year-old Akash Raina, 4-year-old Advik, 15-year-old Danish Bhagat, 17-year-old Ganga Bhagat, 25-year-old Barkha Raina and 81-year-old Avtaar Krishna. On the other hand, the condition of those who fainted is said to be stable.
