People’s voice was suppressed in PDP government – Engineer Rashid
Engineer Rashid has said that the voting percentage has increased because people have been victims of state repression. People’s voice has been suppressed since PDP came to power in 2014. People want to express their feelings and they want change because they have understood that they can achieve something only through democratic means. Violence has no place in society. The people of Kashmir have always believed in democracy. They also wanted a democratic solution to the Kashmir issue. I hope that an era of reconciliation will begin after the voting.
What did Engineer Rashid say about joining hands with BJP?
Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) president Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid said, “Why would I join hands with BJP? Power is a very small thing for me. I was an independent MLA and I would have joined any party. If power was my priority, I would have joined hands with PM Modi. Many people have been killed in Kashmir. My biggest concern is to ensure that these killings should stop. The priority is how the leadership will work after getting the people’s mandate. Do they roam around like VVIPs after winning elections like traditional parties PDP, JKNC, Congress and BJP. Kashmir has to go beyond this. The goal of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) will be to bring lasting peace in Kashmir.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh casts vote
Union Minister Jitendra Singh and his family members cast their votes at a polling booth in Bahu Assembly constituency in the third and final phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024. During this, he said that all these refugees from Pakistan are very loyal to the Congress party. They were not friendly. They always blamed the Congress party for the partition, so when they settled here, they were denied voting rights and even citizenship rights under the guise of Article 370 and 35A. The irony is that this same section of the society gave India two Prime Ministers Dr. Manmohan Singh and I.K. Gujral. Article 370 never helped the common man. If you ask the common man in the streets of Srinagar or Kashmir, they too will support the repeal of Article 370.”
People will take revenge for BJP’s atrocities – Yogesh Sahni
Congress candidate from Jammu East Yogesh Sahni said, “Secularism will win and people will take revenge for the atrocities committed by the BJP in the last 10 years through their votes. Congress did not say that we will bring Article 370, but our demand will be that the youth of Jammu get their jobs and their land should also be protected. Statehood should be restored. My appeal to the people is that we are fighting for the truth and I request people not to sit at home, but go and vote.”
