A bomb threat was received on Friday (31 May) on a Vistara flight from Delhi to Srinagar, which had 177 passengers and a child on board. The airline and security forces took immediate action on this.
Flight number-UK-611 was safely landed at Srinagar airport at around 12:10 pm.
Sources said, “Vistara flight UK611 was coming from New Delhi and the airport authorities at Srinagar International Airport took immediate action after the threatening call. The call was received by Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar.” Following the standard protocol for such threats, the aircraft was immediately sent to an isolation bay after landing. The aircraft was taken to a deserted area. All passengers are reportedly safe and the situation is being handled on priority to ensure their safety.
No explosives found in the plane
ĹAn airport official said, “All the passengers were safely landed at the isolation bay. At present, a thorough security check of the aircraft has been carried out by the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of all concerned.” During this, protocol was followed, bomb disposal squads were deployed to inspect the aircraft and after a thorough search, no explosives were found in the aircraft.
According to sources, flight operations at Srinagar airport were halted for more than two hours after the hoax call. Now flight operations have resumed. Officials are investigating the source of the bomb threat and taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of air travel.
