Jerusalem: The ship which was targeted by Yemen’s Houthis in the Red Sea on Friday was going from Russia to India. Ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels damaged a Panama-flagged oil tanker passing through the Red Sea on Friday. Smoke is also visible rising from the oil tanker after the attack. However, no injuries are reported to the crew members so far. But the oil tanker suffered “minor damage”.
Officials said that the ship was going from Russia to India. Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthis attacked him with a ballistic missile. Due to this, the oil tanker caught fire and smoke started rising in the Red Sea. However, the fire was controlled in time and a major loss was avoided. After a long time, Yemen’s Houthis have again started showing their terror in the Red Sea. The attacks by Houthis had reduced to a great extent in the last few days. But now he is becoming active again.
According to US Army, Houthis fired 3 missiles
The US military’s Central Command said the rebels fired three missiles in the attack, one of which damaged the Panama-flagged, Seychelles-registered ‘Andromeda Star’. Private security company Ambre described the tanker as “engaged in Russia-linked business.” The ship was headed from Primorsk, Russia, to Vadinar, India, Embrey said. Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saari later claimed the attack early Saturday in a pre-recorded statement broadcast by the rebels. He referred to the tanker being a “direct target”. The US said another ship, the Antica-Barbados-flagged, Liberian-operated Maisha, was also nearby at the time of the attack.
