Caste survey will be conducted in Jharkhand
There is a possibility that before the announcement of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the state government of Champai Soren may approve the proposal of caste-based survey. If caste census is started here, then Jharkhand will be the second state in the country after Bihar, where a survey regarding caste will be conducted. Earlier, former CM of the state Hemant Soren had also given hints regarding the caste survey. He had said that his government is in favor of conducting caste-based survey. Now Champai Soren’s government has seriously started initiatives in this direction.
In Jharkhand, only a few months ago, Hemant Soren’s cabinet had given green signal to the formation of the long pending Backward Classes Commission in the state. Former MLA Yogendra Prasad was made the chairman of this commission. Let us tell you that the decision of Champai Soren government to conduct caste survey in Jharkhand has come at a time when Lok Sabha elections are near and many Congress MLAs are angry after the cabinet expansion in the state.
