Jharkhand: The Jharkhand government has given a gift to the state government employees on the eve of Christmas. In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday evening under the chairmanship of CM Hemant Soren, a three percent increase in the dearness allowance payable to the government employees has been approved. Now they will get 53 percent dearness allowance on the revised pay scale applicable from January 1, 2016.
The central government had recently increased the dearness allowance of its employees. On the same lines, the Jharkhand government has approved the payment of increased dearness allowance from July 1, 2024. Retired employees of the state government will also get the benefit of this increase equally.
A total of 5,33,737 posts of various levels are sanctioned in various departments of the state government. As against these sanctioned posts, people are working on 1,83,016 posts. About Rs 16,000 crore is spent annually by the state government on the salary allowance of employees working on regular posts.
The cabinet has also given administrative approval to the new construction at Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh at a cost of Rs 99 crore 56 lakh, as per the plan approved under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan ‘PM-Usha’. The cabinet has also approved the proposal to table the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the management of public health infrastructure and health services in Jharkhand in the upcoming session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Before the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave his consent to an important proposal related to the rules of Home Guard in Jharkhand. According to this, the dependents of the Home Guards who died during duty before the implementation of the rules in 2014 can be enrolled for duty in the Home Guard under a one-time arrangement on humanitarian grounds. This decision will come into effect after the approval of the proposal in the next cabinet meeting.
