Jharkhand politics heated up over minister Hafizul Hasan’s statement, BJP state president Babulal Marandi demanded action, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that this is a very condemnable statement

Jharkhand minister Hafizul Hasan on Monday clarified his controversial comment on ‘first Shariat, then Constitution’. Minister Hasan said that it is a misinterpretation and out of context. Hasan clarified, ‘I did not say ‘I’, I said ‘we’. See the full statement. I am a minister; ‘we’ includes everyone. A minister believes in the Constitution and works accordingly.’ Minister Hasan defended himself by saying that like other religions, Shariat also has a place in the hearts of people, but it does not replace the Constitution.

He clarified, ‘Shariat also has its own place. People keep Hanuman ji in their hearts. This is one way of saying it. I also said something similar. Everyone is twisting it. When you look at what I said for the entire 5-6 minutes, you will know.’

Statement misinterpreted
Hasan also stressed that as a minister, he works according to the Constitution. His comments have been misinterpreted by some people. He urged people to fully understand the context of his statement.

BJP state president demands action
Hasan’s remarks have sparked a political controversy. BJP state president Babulal Marandi has demanded action in the matter. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has strongly condemned the alleged remarks made by Minister Hasan against the Constitution. Especially on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti which is a day dedicated to honoring Baba Saheb.

Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly and state BJP president Babulal Marandi has sought clarification from the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on the controversial remarks of minister Hasan. Marandi said, ‘It has become clear that Congress and JMM make fun of the Constitution while roaming around with a copy of the Constitution. The truth has come out from the words of Hafizul Hasan.’ He further criticized the parties, claiming that their comments reveal their disregard for the Constitution.

BJP will protest

BJP leader Marandi said, ‘Therefore the party demands that Congress and JMM give clarification on this. Remove such a minister from the cabinet. BJP will protest in Jharkhand on this issue, so that the people of this state and country know that the people of Congress and JMM do not believe in the Constitution and want to work according to Shariat.’
