Jharkhand: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) reached the Delhi residence of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on Monday for questioning in a money laundering case. During this time Hemant Soren was not present at the residence. The ED team camped there for more than 13 hours. During this time the search for accommodation was also done. The investigating agency has seized a BMW car with Haryana registration from Soren’s residence and has also seized some documents found during the search of the residence. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha described ED’s action as a planned conspiracy to defame Hemant Soren. On the other hand, BJP said that CM Soren has been absconding for 18 hours due to fear of arrest.
In fact, on Monday, the ED team along with Delhi Police reached 5/1 Shanti Niketan Bhawan in South Delhi at around 9 o’clock. The ED team remained present there till around 10:30 pm. Several ED officials were seen leaving the premises at around 10.30 pm. Sources said that the investigating agency has seized a BMW and some documents from Soren’s residence.
Conspiracy to defame – JMM
While talking to PTI, a member of the Soren family called this entire incident a conspiracy to defame Hemant Soren. He said that Soren has consistently responded to the ED. He had also expressed his desire to record his statement at his residence on January 31 at 1 pm.
Party says- Went to Delhi for personal work
Soren left for Delhi from Ranchi on 27 January. His party JMM said on Monday that he had gone for personal work and would return. However, the Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday claimed that state Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been absconding for the last 18 hours fearing Enforcement Directorate (ED) action and has sought cognizance of the matter from Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Urging to take it, he said that the credibility and reputation of Jharkhand is at stake.
Official sources said the Enforcement Directorate had questioned Soren at his official residence in Ranchi on January 20 in the alleged land fraud case and issued him a fresh summons asking him to report for questioning on January 29 or January 31. From which day will you come? Official sources said that Soren had sent a letter to the agency but did not specify the day or date for questioning. In an email sent to the ED on Sunday (January 28), Soren accused him of being motivated by a political agenda to obstruct the functioning of the state government and claimed that the ED was planning to record his statement again on or before January 31. Malice is visible through stubbornness.
