A massive fire has broken out in the forests of Uchhad in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. The fire has engulfed about 2 km of forest. A large amount of trees have been damaged. Officials say that local people, forest department team, wildlife department team, army and police teams are trying to control the fire.
Officials have said that the fire has not been controlled yet because the fire has spread over a large area. Due to lack of rain, incidents of forest fire are happening frequently. A video of the fierce form of fire has also surfaced from Doda district. In this, it can be seen that there is a massive fire in the forest in the Chenab valley. The forest department team is trying to control the fire.
Forest fire broke out near LoC in November too
Last month also, a forest fire broke out near LoC in Poonch district. In this, landmines planted near LoC exploded. It was feared that such a nefarious act may have been done deliberately in an attempt to infiltrate terrorists. This fire broke out in the afternoon.
6 blasts took place after the fire
The fire spread in the forward areas of Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar sub-division. After this, people claimed to have heard six blasts. However, there were no casualties in this incident.
