Justice Arun Palli appointed as Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari of Madhya Pradesh High Court transferred to Kerala High Court

Justice Arun Palli has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Saturday. The Union Law Ministry gave this information. He told that the President appointed Justice Palli as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir after consultation with the Chief Justice of India. The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the promotion of Justice Palli on April 4.

Justice Arun Palli of Punjab and Haryana High Court has replaced Judge Tashi Rabstan. Justice Tashi Rabstan retired from the post of Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on 9 April at the age of 62. Apart from this, Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari of Madhya Pradesh High Court has been transferred to Kerala High Court.

Union Minister of State for Law gave best wishes

Union Minister of State for Law Arjun Ram Meghwal wrote on X, ‘Using the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has appointed Justice Arun Palli of Punjab and Haryana High Court as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. This appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge. I wish him all the best.

Justice Arun Palli was born on 18 September 1964 to Sarla and Prem Kishan Palli. His grandfather and father have been senior advocates. He obtained a law degree from Punjab University Chandigarh in the year 1988. He was appointed as an additional judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on 28 December 2013. After that, he was appointed as a permanent judge on 19 December 2014.

Justice Dharmadhikari will retire on 7 July 2028

At the same time, Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari has been transferred to the Kerala High Court. Justice Dharmadhikari was third in seniority in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 7 April 2016. He will retire on 7 July 2028. At the same time, after being transferred to the Kerala High Court, he will be eighth in seniority.
