Big network exposed

After the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra, Punjab Police exposed another big espionage network, which is related to YouTuber Jasbir Singh. Jasbir is a resident of Rupnagar, Punjab and runs a YouTube channel called ‘Jaanmahal’.

Jasbir Singh is associated with Pakistani intelligence agent
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Jasbir Singh is associated with Pakistani intelligence agent Shakir alias Jatt Randhawa, who is part of a terrorist-backed espionage network. Jasbir was also in contact with Jyoti Malhotra and Pakistani national Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish (who was earlier an officer in the Pak High Commission in India and has been expelled).

Also participated in Pakistan National Day celebrations
The investigation revealed that Jasbir Singh had participated in the Pakistan National Day celebrations, in which he met Pakistani army officials and bloggers. He visited Pakistan thrice in 2020, 2021 and 2024. Several Pakistan-based numbers have been found from his electronic devices, which are now undergoing forensic investigation.

Also tried to destroy evidence
After Jyoti’s arrest, Jasbir had tried to destroy evidence of his contact with Pakistani agents. In the same case, the Counter-Intelligence Unit of Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Tarn Taran Police, has arrested another accused, who is associated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accused’s name is Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, a resident of Tarn Taran.

The DGP said that Gagandeep was in contact with Pak-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the last five years and got connected to Pak intelligence agencies through him. He had sent confidential information related to army activities, strategic locations and army deployment during Operation Sindoor to the ISI, which posed a serious threat to national security.

Two mobile phones recovered
The police have recovered two mobile phones from the accused, which contain sensitive intelligence information and information about more than 20 contacts related to ISI. The investigation also revealed that the accused had also received money from Pakistani agents through Indian channels.

It is worth noting that Jyoti Malhotra used to run a YouTube channel called ‘Travel with Jio’, who was arrested by the police on May 16. A case has been registered against her under sections of the Official Secrets Act and the Indian Penal Code.
