An accident took place in Doddaballapura in Bengaluru Rural District of the South Indian state of Karnataka. This accident happened during the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Muttur of Doddaballapura. Here a box of firecrackers exploded during the Ganesh Visarjan procession. A boy died due to the explosion and six people including a police constable were seriously injured.
The boy who lost his life in this accident has been identified as Tanush Rao. Tanush Rao was 15 years old. The deceased boy was a resident of Muttur. This accident happened on Friday, August 29. This accident happened between 5:45 and 6 pm on Friday evening. Ganesh Visarjan was being done by the Friends youth group. During this time, a box of firecrackers suddenly exploded in a lifting vehicle involved in the procession.
This apprehension is being expressed
It is suspected that a spark may have come out due to heat in the silencer of the lifting vehicle, which may have caused the fire. However, no exact information has been received about how the box of firecrackers suddenly exploded. Ganesh (16), Yogesh (15), Muniraju (27) and Nagaraju (35), Chetan Shavi (13) and constable Zakir Hussain were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to the government hospital in Doddaballapur.
What did the police say?
Constable Zakir Hussain was on bandobast duty. Zakir has suffered injuries in his hand and shoulder. Police said that the idol was placed on a forklift vehicle and there was a huge crowd around it, including children. The firecrackers were mainly kept in a multi-shot box – near the silencer of the vehicle. An official said that it is not clear whether the explosion occurred due to heat or a spark from the silencer. The matter is being investigated.
Bengaluru Rural SP CK Baba visited the spot and the hospital. He said that the district administration is considering banning the use of firecrackers during the immersion procession.
