The mysterious deaths of five members of a family in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district have raised numerous questions. The Superintendent of Police has provided a significant update. The discovery of the bodies of five family members in a closed house on Eta Road in the Amanpur Kotwali area on Saturday evening caused a stir. According to the Superintendent of Police, preliminary investigations indicate the case is a case of suicide followed by murder.
The incident occurred near the Indian Petrol Pump in Amanpur. 50-year-old Satyaveer (aka Shyamveer Fauji) lived with his wife Ramshree (48) and three children: Prachi (12), Amravati (10), and son Girish (9). Satyaveer, a welder by profession, had been unresponsive for the past three days.
At around 6:30 pm on Saturday, neighbors reported the incident to the police after hearing no sound from the house and fearing something untoward had occurred. When the police arrived at the scene and found the door of the house locked from inside, they broke it open and entered. The scene inside was horrifying.
Dead bodies on the bed and the head of the family hanging from a noose
Inside the room, Satyaveer’s body was hanging from a noose. The bodies of his wife and three innocent children were lying under the quilt on the bed. Based on the scene, it appeared that the children and wife had been murdered by strangulation or poisoning, as there were no signs of struggle on their bodies and they appeared to be sleeping peacefully under the quilt.
Kasganj SP Ankita Sharma stated that the initial investigation suggests a case of suicide. Satyaveer first killed the other members of his family and then hanged himself. The forensic team and dog squad have collected evidence from the scene. The exact cause and time of death will be known only after the post-mortem report.
Did financial hardships lead to death?
After inspecting the scene, Aligarh Range DIG Prabhakar Choudhary stated that the doors of the house were locked from inside, and no signs of forced entry were found. Interviews with local residents revealed that Satyaveer’s family had been facing severe financial difficulties for some time. Debt and the struggle to make ends meet may have pushed him to this suicidal step.
Timeline of the Incident and Police Action
Police say the incident is likely 2-3 days old, as the condition of the bodies had begun to emit a foul odor. Police have prepared an inquest report and sent the bodies for post-mortem. As a precaution, a heavy police force has been deployed at the scene to maintain peace and order.
Many Questions Raised About the Incident
This incident once again highlights the psychological pressure and financial hardship that can lead a father to take his own life. Kasganj police are investigating both suicide and murder angles, but so far, clues point only to financial hardship. The police are now waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the method used to kill the children and the woman.
