The accident happened on the coast of the Caspian Sea
According to a Reuters report, Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 flew hundreds of miles off its scheduled route and crashed on the opposite coast of the Caspian Sea. Regarding this, Russia’s aviation regulator had said that the accident was caused by a bird hit. Kazakhstan officials said that the plane had deviated from its scheduled route near the city of Aktau. 32 people survived the accident.
38 people died
Azerbaijan Airlines said that there were 67 people on board the plane. There were 62 passengers and five crew members. Kazakhstan media quoted the country’s Deputy Prime Minister as saying that 38 people have died in this accident. Kazakhstan Transport Ministry said on Telegram, “A plane flying on the Baku-Grozny route crashed near the city of Aktau. This is an Azerbaijan Airlines plane.”
