Kenya: Heavy rains wreak havoc in Kenya, at least 40 people died after a dam broke due to floods.

Nairobi: At least 40 people have died due to the collapse of a dam in the western area of the African country Kenya. Information regarding this has been given by Kenya Police. Police officer Stephen Kirui told the Associated Press news agency that floodwaters rushed into homes and cut off access to a major road after the dam broke. The situation is out of control and efforts are underway to provide help to the people.

Kijabe Dam collapsed
According to police, the incident occurred on Monday morning after the collapse of the old Kijabe Dam located in Mai Mahiu area of the Great Rift Valley region. There remains a risk of flash floods in the Great Rift Valley region. After the dam broke the water started flowing downwards. Due to heavy rains in Kenya for the last few days, there is a flood situation in many areas. About 100 people have died so far due to the floods.

Many parts in the grip of flood
Let us tell you that heavy rains have caused devastation in Kenya. Due to heavy rains, many parts of the country have been hit by severe floods, the situation has become out of control. It would not be wrong to say that almost half of Kenya is currently in the grip of floods. Lakhs of people have been affected due to the floods. Roads, streets and even people’s houses are flooded. Vehicles are seen submerged in water at many places on the road. Life has been badly affected and relief is not reaching people.

Difficult situation in Nairobi
Due to floods in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, many roads have been closed and many areas have been flooded. The situation in Nairobi has become very difficult, water is visible everywhere. The government is using all resources in relief and rescue work but the situation is out of control. The most disturbing thing is that meteorologists have expressed the possibility of rain till the month of June. It has been raining in Kenya since the month of March. But in recent times, heavy rains have become a cause of trouble for the people.
