Kenya’s military chief, General Francis Ogola, died in a helicopter crash in the western part of the country on Thursday. Kenyan President William Ruto said General Francis Ogola and nine other army members were killed in a helicopter crash. He further said that two people survived the accident. General Ogola is the first Kenyan military chief of staff to die during his service, CNN reported, citing state broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). According to the Kenyan Ministry of Defense website, General Ogola joined the Kenyan Defense Forces in 1984 and became a second lieutenant in 1985 before being posted to the Kenya Air Force.
