Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has fiercely targeted Rahul Gandhi and Congress over the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections. Vijayan alleged on Wednesday that Congress now celebrates the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party as well. Accusing Congress of backing down from its commitment to fight BJP along with other parties, Vijayan said that Rahul himself led the campaign against AAP in Delhi. He said that in this way, where there was no possibility of Congress winning, he helped BJP come to power.
Vijayan lashed out at Congress in SFI meeting
While addressing its workers during a meeting organized under the 35th state conference of Students Federation of India, Vijayan said, ‘Out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi, Congress candidates lost their deposits in 65 seats, but they celebrated when Aam Aadmi Party lost the election to BJP. Congress has become a party that now celebrates even the victory of BJP. He alleged that the wrong political approach of the Congress helped the BJP win in Haryana and Maharashtra.
‘Congress does not seem to be active about alliances’
Referring to the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, Vijayan said that the Congress is no longer seen to be active about the alliance that dashed the BJP’s hopes of getting a two-thirds majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Kerala CM claimed, ‘It was the Congress that made corruption allegations against the AAP government in Delhi, due to which central agencies intervened and arrested then Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The Congress also demanded the arrest of Kejriwal. Congress has always supported BJP in Delhi.’
‘RSS wants to control the universities of the country’
Warning SFI members against the Sangh Parivar’s ‘attempts to saffronise the country’, Vijayan said that the new draft notification of UGC is nothing but a part of its agenda to control the universities of the country. Vijayan said that despite its diversity, the entire country stood together in the freedom struggle. He claimed, ‘But only one faction did not participate in it and its leaders met the then British Viceroy and assured him that they had no conflict of interest with the British.’
