Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has met top Hamas leaders after the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyya and Yahya Sinwar. Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei met top Hamas leaders in Tehran, the official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.
According to the report, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met and held talks with Hamas Political Bureau Deputy Chairman Khalil al-Haya and Hamas Shura Council Chairman Muhammad Ismail Darwish in Tehran. The report quoted Khamenei as saying that the people of Gaza actually “defeated the Zionist regime and America and did not let them reach any of their goals.”
Khamenei praised Hamas
Khamenei praised Hamas leaders for continuing to fight Israel. IRNA said that Khamenei also thanked Hamas officials who negotiated a ceasefire agreement with Israel. Let us tell you that a ceasefire has been in effect between Israel and Hamas since January 19. Under this, both sides have agreed to release each other’s hostages and prisoners.
