Kolkata: Anger among doctors across the country in the case of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor of RG Kar Medical College, doctors across the country are on strike today, hospitals will remain closed; there will be no work in OPD as well

The medical staff is angry over the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a 24-hour shutdown of non-emergency medical services from 6 am on Saturday in protest against the rape and murder of the female doctor.

Services will remain closed in Delhi’s GTB Hospital

Resident Doctors Association UCMS (University College of Medical Sciences) and Delhi’s GTBH (Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital) will continue their strike today in the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case. There will be a meeting of doctors at 9:30 am. OPD (Out Patient Department), optional services, laboratory and lab services will remain closed under the strike.

Only emergency patients will be seen

The Indian Medical Association has announced a nationwide strike today. There is a strike in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh from 6 am today to 6 am on Sunday. During this time only emergency patients will be seen.

Patients will have to face difficulties

IMA had announced a 48-hour strike for nationwide demonstration. Many private hospitals of the country have also supported the 48-hour protest of IMA starting from today. Along with government hospitals, OPD services of major private hospitals of the country will also be disrupted. Patients undergoing treatment across the country will have to face difficulties today.

Doctors’ strike started at 6 am

Along with government hospitals, many private hospitals are also on a 48-hour strike today. This strike has started from 6:00 am on Saturday. Doctors and nurses in all major government hospitals of the country are on strike for 48 hours. OPD services of all government hospitals are disrupted. Only some emergency patients and patients admitted in ICU will be treated by doctors and nurses.

Hospitals across the country will remain closed today, doctors will strike for 24 hours

Indian Medical Association has announced a shutdown of all big and small hospitals across the country on August 17. Giving information about this, IMA i.e. Indian Medical Association’s national president RV Ashokan said that the doctors will be on strike for 24 hours. He said that the strike will start from 6 am on Saturday, which will continue till 6 am the next day. During this time emergency services will remain operational, but other services along with OPD will remain closed. Let us tell you that doctors across the country are angry against the incident of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital and in this sequence they will be on strike on Saturday.

‘I am waiting for the CBI investigation report’

Ashokan said that the girl with whom this incident happened was the only child of a middle class family. He said, ‘Not a single person carried out this incident, but many people were involved in it. I have no words to describe the way she was murdered. This is a crime against humanity. This is related to the issue of safety of women at workplaces. Doctors and nurses are worried that they are not safe in the hospital, their families are also worried. I am waiting for the CBI investigation report.’

At least 30 names are on CBI’s radar

Let us tell you that on August 9, the body of a female trainee doctor was found under mysterious circumstances in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. The female doctor was raped and murdered. She was a PG second year medical student in the hospital and was also working as a house staff. Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased told the CBI, which is investigating the case, that some interns and doctors of the same college may be involved in this crime. A CBI official said that we have focused on at least 30 names, whom we will call for questioning. He said that we have also started questioning them.
