Kshama Sawant VISA: Kshama Sawant, who spreads anti-India propaganda abroad, has not been allowed to come to India. Her visa was rejected. The Indian Consulate in Seattle said on Friday (February 07, 2025) that some people tried to enter the consulate without permission after office hours. This incident happened in the case of refusal to grant visa to Indian-American politician Kshama Sawant.
The Indian Consulate General in Seattle said in a post on X, “Today, the Consulate was forced to deal with the law and order situation arising from unauthorized entry of some people into the consulate premises after office hours. Despite repeated requests, these individuals refused to leave the consulate premises and behaved aggressively and threateningly with the consulate staff.” What did Kshama Sawant allege?
Kshama Sawant claimed that her Indian visa was rejected thrice, while her husband Calvin Priest was given an emergency visa to see his ailing mother in India. In a series of posts on the social media platform X, Sawant said she and members of Workers Strike Back staged a peaceful civil disobedience at the Indian consulate demanding an explanation of why her visa was rejected three times.
“My husband and I are at the Seattle Indian consulate. They gave her an emergency visa because my mother was very ill but rejected my visa, literally saying my name is on the rejected list and refused to explain why. We are refusing to leave. They are threatening to call the police on us,” she said. In a video, she can be heard saying, “We are just asking for an explanation. Why am I on the rejected list? Why has my visa been rejected?”
Kshama Sawant has opposed CAA and NRC
Kshama Sawant, who has been a vocal critic of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), said the visa rejection was politically motivated. This is the same Kshama Sawant who introduced a resolution in Seattle to outlaw caste-based discrimination.
