Lahore: On one hand, the economic condition of Pakistan is bad and on the other hand, the government also does not care about the common citizens. What to talk about common citizens, atrocities on farmers have started in Pakistan. Now Pakistan’s Punjab Police has lathi-charged the protesting farmers amid the wheat procurement crisis and arrested more than 200 people in Lahore.

Farmers are complaining
After a bumper wheat production in Punjab province, farmers are complaining that the Maryam Nawaz government of the province is not purchasing wheat and flour mills are offering rates lower than the support price set by the government for their crops. Farmers are troubled and they do not have any arrangement for storing their crops. For this reason, farmers have come out on the streets under compulsion.

Police attacked farmers
Kisan Ittehad spokesperson Mian Umer told PTI, “On Monday, when a large number of farmers were going towards the Punjab Assembly in Lahore to stage a protest, police personnel stopped them at GPO Chowk, Mall Road. Attacked and arrested more than 200 farmers.” He said that the police also resorted to lathicharge to disperse them in Lahore.

Politics is happening on the issue of farmers
Mian Umer said that among the arrested farmers, Kisan Board Punjab (KBP) Chairman Mian Abd-ur-Rashid is also included. At the same time, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that a political party (Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) is doing politics on the issue of farmers. He said, “We will not allow anyone to do politics on this issue and will not protect the interests of farmers.”
