Aam Aadmi Party leader and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Atishi has raised questions on the law and order situation in Delhi. She has mentioned the recent incidents of crime in Delhi. Along with this, she also mentioned the attack on the Chief Minister and said that if even the Chief Minister is not safe, then imagine the safety of common citizens.
Raised questions on Delhi’s law and order
In her letter, Atishi wrote, “I want to draw your attention to the continuously deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. The situation in the capital has become so bad that now people do not feel safe even in their homes, markets and religious places. Recently, a sevadaar serving in Kalkaji temple was brutally beaten to death by 5-6 people over a minor dispute regarding prasad. This entire incident has been captured on camera. This is not just an incident, but a testimony to the collapsed state of law and order in Delhi.”
Referring to the attack on Rekha Gupta
She further wrote, “Today when I am writing this letter to you, there are reports that a property dealer’s house has been shot at for not paying extortion money of Rs 5 crore. Many such horrific incidents have come to light in the month of August itself. On August 10, there was a triple murder in Maidangarhi, on August 8, actress Huma Qureshi’s cousin Asif Qureshi was murdered in a parking dispute in Nizamuddin, just 200 meters from the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office in I.P. Extension, a young man was stabbed in an attempt to rob his phone and bag. These conditions are not limited to the common people. You yourself were also attacked recently. If even the Chief Minister is not safe, then imagine the safety of common citizens.” Law and order in the hands of criminals
She wrote, “The most shameful and shocking thing is that the senior officers of Delhi Police themselves are addressing a dangerous gangster like Lawrence Bishnoi as “Sahab”. It seems that criminals like Lawrence have now become the “Sahab” for Delhi Police. What bigger proof is needed than this that law and order is completely in the hands of criminals and the police is proving to be dwarf.”
All four engines of BJP jammed in Delhi
Atishi further wrote, “The four-engine government of BJP has completely failed today. The public was expecting that the four engines of BJP will together accelerate security and development, but the reality is that all four engines of BJP have jammed in Delhi. Delhi has today become the capital of violence, loot, extortion and gang war. Criminals are fearlessly committing crimes in broad daylight and the police is only engaged in formality.”
Questions asked to Delhi Government
Asking questions to the Delhi Government, Atishi wrote, “Chief Minister, now the time has come for you and your 4-engine government to move beyond show-off and speeches and fix accountability. The people of Delhi are asking – how long will the people of Delhi remain insecure? How long will criminals keep committing crimes openly? If you cannot provide security to the people of Delhi, then you have no right to remain in power. It would be better if you resign. Because, the public now wants only action, not excuses.”
