Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given instructions for the immediate appointment of 2346 Home Guards. All of them have already passed their Physical Measurement and Efficiency Test (PMET) and written examination. However, there are still 7939 other vacancies left for Home Guard. There are 2 pending cases in the court. After waiting for the final decision of the court, the LG will also approve the filling of the remaining vacancies.
Medical test should be conducted within a week
Along with this, the 2346 candidates who have passed the Home Guard exam. They will no longer have to wait unnecessarily. The Lieutenant Governor has also directed that a dedicated medical camp be organized within a week for the medical test of the eligible candidates. After that, appointment letters should be handed over to them as soon as possible.
33.33% reservation for women in Home Guard appointment
Let us tell you that the Lieutenant Governor had earlier approved the enrollment of 10,285 Home Guard volunteers with the provision of 33.33% reservation for women in January, 2024. After this, an advertisement was issued on January 23, 2024 to fill these 10,285 vacancies. In this, 1,09,001 applicants had applied but only 32,511 reported for PMET.
Some applicants had approached the court
Meanwhile, some applicants had approached the High Court on various issues. Under this, the court ordered to maintain status quo till the decision was taken. However, 2346 candidates got relief from the obstacles arising from these court cases.
There should not be any delay in the appointment of Home Guards
Now, the LG has approved their appointment after medical tests to ensure that there is no undue delay in their appointment. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has also directed the DG Home Guard to ensure that the remaining 7939 vacancies are also filled as soon as possible after taking cognizance of the High Court decisions in the related cases.
