Lok Sabha Election 2024: Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 started at 7 am on April 26 (Friday). In the second phase, voting is being held on 89 Lok Sabha seats in 13 states and Union Territories (UTs). Voting will continue till 5 pm. Voting is to be held on all 20 seats of Kerala in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad seat is also included in these.
Prominent candidates in the second phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections include Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon, DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural, Shobha Karandlaje from Bengaluru North, Tejasvi Surya from Bengaluru South, HD Kumaraswamy from Mandya, Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, Anil Antony from Pathanamthitta, Shashi Tharoor and Rajiv Chandrashekhar are included from Thiruvananthapuram. The candidates contesting in the second phase include Gajendra Singh Shekhawat from Jodhpur, Vaibhav Gehlot from Jalore, Hema Malini from Mathura, Arun Govil from Meerut.
In the second phase of voting, elections are being held on three seats of Bihar: Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia and Bhagalpur. Elections will be held on Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund and Kanker seats of Chhattisgarh. People are casting their votes in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh. Elections are being held in Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal Washim, Hingoli, Nanded and Parbhani seats of Maharashtra.
In the second phase of elections, voting will be held in Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota, Jhalawar-Baran Lok Sabha seats of Rajasthan. Voting will be held on Darjeeling, Raiganj and Balurghat Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal. Voting is taking place in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura of Uttar Pradesh.
Voting will be held on all the seats in the southern state of Kerala during the second phase. Voting is being held in Karnataka’s Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, Chikballapur, Kolar seats.
Voting is taking place today on 88 seats in 13 states under the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. 16 crore voters are going to decide the fate of 1202 candidates. Among the 88 seats on which voting is taking place today, all 20 are from Kerala, 14 from Karnataka, 13 from Rajasthan, eight seats each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, six from Madhya Pradesh, five each from Assam and Bihar, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. Voting will take place in these states
Today, apart from all the 20 seats in Kerala, 14 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, eight seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, six seats in Madhya Pradesh, five seats each in Assam and Bihar, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. Voting will be held on Friday on three seats each in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir.
1202 candidates in second phase
There are 1202 candidates in the fray in the second phase of elections, of which 1098 are men and 102 are women. The campaign for the second phase ended on Wednesday evening.
Arrangements are fine at all booths: Chief Election Commissioner

Enthusiasm among voters in Mathura
Long queues of voters were seen waiting to cast their votes since the morning when voting started in Mathura. Voting started here amidst tight security. Para military personnel are deployed along with the local police. The fate of 15 candidates including two-time BJP MP and film actress Hema Malini will be sealed in EVMs.

In Baghpat, there is a contest between BJP-RLD candidate Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan, India Alliance candidate Amarpal Sharma and BSP candidate Praveen Bainsla. A total of 9, 73, 029 voters will cast their votes today at 979 booths in Baghpat.
