A 32-year-old woman was allegedly abducted, gangraped and then killed in the Malihabad area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Thursday. Seven policemen, including the Alambagh station in-charge, have been suspended for negligence in the case. Police said the woman, who lives in Ayodhya, was going to her brother’s house in Chinhat after giving a job interview in Varanasi. According to her family, she hired an autorickshaw from Alambagh on Wednesday morning, but the driver of the vehicle took her towards Malihabad, police said.
Victim found unconscious in a mango orchard
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kamlesh Kumar Dixit said on Thursday, “The woman’s brother reported her missing at around 4 am on Wednesday. She had shared her live location with her brother, suspecting that the autorickshaw driver was taking her on the wrong route.” He said that when her last location was near Malihabad, her family informed the police, following which the local police started looking for the woman. The DCP said that the woman was found unconscious in a mango orchard near Mohammad Nagar Talukdari in Malihabad.
Doctors declared the woman dead
He said that the woman was taken to King George Medical University (KGMU), but the doctors declared her dead. The DCP said, “A case has been registered against unknown miscreants under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and three police teams are investigating the case. Police teams are making efforts to arrest the accused.” He said that Alambagh SHO Kapil Gautam, Sub Inspector Ram Bahadur, Qamaruzzama, Shiv Nandan Singh, Head Constable Rajesh Kumar, Vijay Yadav and Pankaj Yadav have been suspended for negligence in this case.
