A large number of women supporters led by BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh from Sarojini Nagar assembly seat of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, took out a march on Friday with tricolour, saffron flags, placards and rolling pins to protest against the alleged objectionable remarks of a cleric against Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav. According to a statement, this protest was held against the controversial remarks made by Maulana Sajid Rashidi on Dimple Yadav’s dress in a mosque recently and the ‘silence’ of opposition leaders on this issue.
Targeted the cleric
MLA Singh, while addressing the protesters, said, “In India, women power is not weak, it is a living symbol of creation, sanskar and culture.” Targeting the cleric, he said, “Those who insult traditions and women’s dignity are neither seekers of culture, nor servants of the nation. Be it the cleric’s remarks or the silence of the opposition, it is not just the poverty of ideology, it is anti-national.”
