Students at Lucknow University’s Ganga Girls Hostel erupted in anger over the quality of the mess food. Late Wednesday night, a third-year law student began vomiting after eating the mess food and fell unconscious shortly afterward. Upon learning of the incident, other students became enraged and launched a massive protest on the hostel campus.

Students reported that the victim’s health suddenly deteriorated minutes after eating the vegetable and roti served for dinner. She collapsed after vomiting and diarrhea. Fellow students immediately rushed her to the hospital.

The quality of the mess food is extremely poor.
This incident created tension within the hostel. A large number of students gathered and protested in front of the hostel provost, demanding immediate action against the mess operator. The students allege that the quality of the mess food has been extremely poor for the past several months. They stated that they have complained repeatedly, but the administration has never taken any concrete action. The food is excessively oily, has poor spices, and is of poor quality. Today’s incident is a result of this.

Demand for Immediate Removal of Mess Operator
The protesters demanded the Provost immediately remove the mess operator, order an inspection of the food, and take action against the guilty officials. They warned that if their demands are not met within 24 hours, the protest will be intensified. However, the Lucknow University administration has not yet issued an official statement.

Appropriate Action If Found Guilty
According to sources, the Provost has assured the female student delegation that the matter will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken if found guilty. This incident once again highlights the poor state of the mess system in Lucknow University hostels. The students say that despite paying high fees, they are not receiving safe and nutritious food. The condition of the victim student is currently stable.
