An ancient room and a secret passage have been found during excavation in the historical city of Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Rajpura ward councilor Ajay Belapurkar also reached the spot and said that it is likely to be an ancient heritage. He says that this excavation can bring out new historical facts and it should be investigated by the Archaeological Department. However, plot owner Anand Bhagat says that this could be a part of the warehouse built to store grains in ancient times.

Dr. Manoj Agarwal, member of the District Archeological Association, said that Burhanpur has historically witnessed Farooqi, Mughal and Maratha rule. Finding forts, stepwells, inns, grain warehouses and secret passages here is not a new thing. It is a subject of research for historians and researchers because it shows what kind of technology and system people used at that time.
