An ancient room and a secret passage have been found during excavation in the historical city of Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh. It was discovered when the plot owner was digging the foundation of his new house. Local people are considering it a historical heritage, while some say that it could be part of a warehouse built to store grains in ancient times. The matter is of Rajpur area of Burhanpur district. Burhanpur city is very ancient and very important from the archaeological point of view. Due to this, it has become common to find rooms and paths in the ground during excavation here. Local plot owner Anand Bhagat was getting the foundation dug for the construction of a new house. During the excavation, a room and a secret passage have been found there.
As soon as this news spread, people from nearby areas are reaching the spot to see it. Rajpura ward councilor Ajay Belapurkar also reached the spot and said that it is likely to be an ancient heritage. He says that this excavation can bring out new historical facts and it should be investigated by the Archaeological Department. However, plot owner Anand Bhagat says that this could be a part of the warehouse built to store grains in ancient times.

Dr. Manoj Agarwal, member of the District Archeological Association, said that Burhanpur has historically witnessed Farooqi, Mughal and Maratha rule. Finding forts, stepwells, inns, grain warehouses and secret passages here is not a new thing.
