Madhya Pradesh: During the ongoing survey in the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Masjid complex of Dhar, a basement containing religious symbols and objects of Hindus was found, the Muslim side alleged that the claim is misleading.

A Hindu litigant in the Bhojshala case in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday claimed that a cellar containing Hindu religious symbols and objects was found during the ongoing survey in the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Masjid complex. However, the Muslim side alleged that this claim is misleading. On the orders of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) started the survey in the disputed complex of Bhojshala from March 22. This order was given on the application of a Hindu organization that filed a petition in the court in the Bhojshala issue.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the survey of the medieval complex of Bhojshala. Both Hindus and Muslims claim this complex. The apex court also warned that no step should be taken without its permission regarding the result of this survey exercise.

Telefant on the right side of the sanctum sanctorum

Hindu community litigant Kuldeep Tiwari told reporters in Dhar that things that were not visible earlier in the Bhojshala complex are now coming to the fore. He said that a basement has been found on the right side of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Goddess Saraswati in this complex. According to Kuldeep Tiwari, it is believed that some broken idols are kept in this basement which will be found during the survey.

Bhojshala is a temple of Hindus

Kuldeep Tiwari claimed that along with Sanskrit inscriptions, religious objects and symbols like Ashtavakra Kamal, Shankh and Havan Kund, besides the idol of Lord Hanuman have been found in the basement, which indicate that Bhojshala is a temple of Hindus.

Survey banned in Bhojshala complex

Abdul Samad, associated with Kamal Maula Welfare Society, said that the Muslim side is happy with the Supreme Court’s order to stop the excavation during the ongoing survey in the Bhojshala complex. He alleged that the Hindu parties are spreading misleading information through the media. The Hindu community considers Bhojshala to be the temple of Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati), while the Muslim community calls this 11th century complex as Kamal Maula Mosque. This complex is protected by ASI.

Permission to worship in Bhojshala

After the controversy over Bhojshala started, ASI issued an order on 7 April 2003. According to this order, as per the system prevailing till now, Hindus are allowed to worship in Bhojshala every Tuesday, while Muslims are allowed to offer namaz at this place every Friday.
