The Navratri festival is underway. All the famous Devi temples and Shaktipeeths across the country are witnessing huge crowds of devotees. A shocking incident has emerged from the fair area of the Maa Sharda Devi Temple in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh. Two young men were operating a prasad stall while concealing their true identities. The matter came to light when these vendors allegedly harassed and abused a devotee to purchase prasad.
The police administration has taken major action in the case of harassment and indecent behavior by devotees outside the Maa Sharda Devi Temple. On Thursday morning, a visitor to the temple filed a complaint alleging abuse and threats by a prasad vendor. Following this, the police registered an FIR and began an investigation.
The shop was run by a Muslim youth.
The investigation revealed that the shop, named “Gopal Prasad Bhandar,” was being run by a Muslim youth named Yusuf Khan. He had started the shop by concealing his identity. The shop was rented by Jyoti Gautam. Following the complaint, the police took immediate action and arrested the two accused.
Shop Sealed
This evening, the administration and police took joint action and sealed the shop with full force. Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Pratap Singh, Maihar SDM Divya Patel, CSP Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Tehsildar Jitendra Patel, Police Station Incharge Animesh Dwivedi, Outpost Incharge Arvind Dwivedi, along with temple committee officials and employees were present during the operation.
What did the police say?
On the matter, Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Pratap Singh stated that two travelers were abused and mistreated by shopkeepers. A complaint was lodged at the Deviji Outpost. Following this, Maihar police took action and arrested two Muslim accused. The accused were operating the shop while concealing their identities. The police have registered a case under several sections and sent the accused to jail.
