At the same time, the international patron of Juna Akhara, Srimahant Hari Giri Maharaj has also declared three days of mourning in all the branches, ashrams and peeths of Juna Akhara and has given instructions to do Shanti Paath.
On this occasion, it is natural to take a look at the life of Pilot Baba. Pilot, who has completed 86 years of age, was named Kapil Singh in his childhood. He was aggressive since childhood. Coincidentally, he was also brilliant, so he became a pilot in the Air Force and soon got promoted and reached the post of Wing Commander. During his service period, Pilot Baba first took part in the Indo-China war and then also participated in the Indo-Pak war twice and proved his bravery. He was also honored for this.
Life changed by an incident
During the Indo-Pak war of 1971, an incident happened that Wing Commander Kapil Singh became disillusioned with the world and he decided to take sanyaas. Actually, during the war, there was some technical fault in his plane Mig-21. Wing Commander Kapil Singh felt that now his life is over. He remembered his Guru. He writes in a book that his Guru immediately came to the cockpit and helped him in a safe landing. This made Kapil Singh feel detached and as soon as the war ended, he applied for VRS.
Took initiation into sanyaas in 1974
After retirement, he took initiation formally in the year 1974 and joined Juna Akhara and became a Sanyasi. In Juna Akhara, he got the post of Mahamandaleshwar in the year 1998 and then in the year 2010, he was appointed Peethadheeshwar in the ancient Juna Akhara Shivgiri Ashram Neelkanth temple of Ujjain. Kapil Singh, born in a Rajput family living in Sasaram of Rohtas district of Bihar, was educated at BHU. During his studies here, he was selected as a pilot officer in the Air Force.
PM Modi also bowed his head
After retiring from the army, Kapil Singh, who was moving towards renunciation, also stayed in Bollywood for some time. He did successful films like Ek Phool Do Mali. After this, he became a complete renunciate. After adopting a spiritual life, he gave initiation to famous actress Manisha Koirala. At the same time, many big personalities of the country including the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar used to bow their heads in front of Baba. According to the patron of Juna Akhara, Shri Mahant Hari Giri Maharaj, Baba’s wish was that his Samadhi should be in Haridwar, so today Baba will be given Samadhi as per his wish.
Pilot Baba was always in controversies
Pilot Baba had a deep connection with controversies. During his service in the army, he was accused of arbitrariness. The first controversy after becoming a sanyasi was that he ran his vehicle over devotees at the Kumbh Mela. This case is from the Kumbh Mela of 2010. On April 14, when Pilot Baba’s convoy left for the royal bath, many people were crushed by vehicles. Many people jumped into the river to save their lives and were swept away. A case was also registered against him in this regard. Similarly, there was a stampede to get his charan raj in Hathras. Then a case was registered in Nainital for land grabbing. He also went to jail in this case. Not only this, a sting operation was also conducted against Baba, in which he was converting black money into white.
He did not give information about foreign devotees
Pilot Baba’s ashram is in Kumalta village on the Gangotri National Highway, 25 km from Uttarkashi district headquarters. Domestic and foreign devotees always come and go here. However, Pilot Baba never gave information about them to the police and administration. Whereas doing so is mandatory. The police was always troubled about this. Not only this, Pilot Baba not only occupied government land for his ashram but also built a helipad in a sensitive area.
