Jalgaon Train Accident: There was a stampede among the passengers after a rumor of fire in Mumbai Pushpak Express train in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra on Wednesday evening. Passengers in the train started jumping on the adjacent tracks in a hurry due to fear of fire. During this time, unfortunately another train was coming from the opposite direction. In such a situation, some passengers got hit by that train. Officials have informed that at least 13 passengers have died in this accident.

This accident took place between Maheji and Pardhade station near Pachora town of Jalgaon district of North Maharashtra. There was a rumor of fire in train number 12533 ​​​​Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express. Passengers jumped on the adjacent tracks to save their lives and got hit by Karnataka Express going from Bengaluru to Delhi. According to Central Railway, about 15 passengers have also been injured in this accident, who are undergoing treatment.

PM expressed condolences to the victim families

However, Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity Department of Railway Board, has denied the fire inside the train. He said, ‘According to the information we have received, no spark or fire was seen in the coach.’ But despite all this, the question is, if there was no fire, how did the rumour arise, why were so many people forced to risk their lives?

At present, railway officials are busy finding out the real reason behind the accident. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the passengers killed in the accident. The PMO wrote in an ex-post quoting PM Modi, ‘I am saddened by the tragic accident on the railway track in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. I express my condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Officials are providing all possible help to the affected people.’

Devendra Fadnavis announced financial assistance
At the same time, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over this accident by releasing a video from Davos, Switzerland. He said, ‘People lost their lives in a very unfortunate incident near Pachora in Jalgaon district, which is very sad, I pay tribute to them.’ He announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the passengers killed in this tragedy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the incident as extremely sad. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘The train accident in Jalgaon, Maharashtra is extremely sad. I spoke to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in this regard and took stock of the situation. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the injured. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident and wish the injured a speedy recovery.’

What did Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav say?

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, who is in Switzerland, has also expressed grief over the accident. A statement issued by the Railway Board said, ‘Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has expressed deep grief over the incident. He took complete information about the incident from the Chairman of the Railway Board and other officials and gave instructions for proper treatment of all the injured. The Railway Board has separately announced to give Rs 1.5 lakh each to the families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 for minor injuries.
