Mumbai: A tragic accident took place in Mumbai, Maharashtra on Sunday evening. In fact, 9 people were injured after being hit by a BEST bus running in Mumbai. It is being told that a person travelling in the bus had an argument with the bus driver over something. During this, the drunk person grabbed the steering of the bus. After this the bus went out of control. The bus hit several vehicles and pedestrians. Nine people have been injured in this accident. At present, the injured have been admitted to different hospitals. The police have taken the accused person into custody and the matter is being investigated.
Accident happened in Lalbagh area
According to an official, the condition of three of the nine people injured in this incident is critical. He said that due to the action of a drunk passenger, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which pedestrians, cars and two-wheelers were hit by the bus in the Lalbagh area of the city. The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking is the transport arm of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to an official of the Kalachowki police station, an electric bus on Route 66 (from Ballard Pier in south Mumbai) was going towards Rani Laxmibai Chowk in Sion when the incident took place.
Passenger quarreled with bus driver
He said a passenger, who was drunk, got into a fight with the bus driver. When the bus reached near Ganesh Talkies in Lalbaug, he suddenly grabbed the steering, causing the vehicle to go out of the driver’s control. He said the bus hit two motorcycles and a car and several pedestrians, injuring nine people, three of whom are in critical condition. All the injured have been admitted to different hospitals in the city. The official said the police have taken the drunk passenger into custody and the case is under investigation.
