Maharashtra: A contractor in Pune city was duped of Rs 11 lakh after being promised Rs 25 lakh for getting her pregnant.

A shocking incident of fraud has come to light in Pune, Maharashtra. A contractor was duped of ₹11 lakh after being promised ₹25 lakh in exchange for impregnating a woman. The victim fell into the trap of the perpetrators through social media. They duped him by claiming various things like registration fees, ID card charges, and verification. The fraudsters later blocked the contractor’s mobile number.

According to reports, a Pune contractor saw a video on social media. In the video, a woman said in a serious voice, “I need a man who can help me become a mother. If anyone does that, I will pay him ₹25 lakh.” The contractor’s greed was piqued by his suspicions. Initially, he called the number shown in the video, hoping for money.

Contractor duped of lakhs of rupees
The person who answered the phone identified himself as an assistant at a company that deals with pregnant women. He told the contractor that he would only provide his identity card and other documents after he registered with the company. Only then did the real fraud begin. The fraudsters demanded money from the contractor under various pretexts. They charged for everything, including registration fees, ID card charges, verification, GST, TDS, and processing fees.

More than 100 Transactions
Trusting the fraudsters, the contractor made more than 100 online transactions from the first week of September to October 23rd. In total, he transferred approximately ₹1.1 million. Initially, everything went well. They promised to arrange a meeting with the woman soon, but when the contractor became suspicious and started asking questions, the fraudsters blocked his phone number.

Police Searching for the Fraudsters
Realizing he had been duped, the contractor filed a complaint at the Baner police station. The police are investigating the case and verifying the mobile numbers and bank accounts used to receive the money. They are also searching for the accused. It’s worth noting that this type of fraud is not just seen in Pune, but also in many other states across the country. Police have urged people to be vigilant on social media.
