In the Powai area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, a retired airline employee murdered his wife, with whom he had been estranged for nearly 30 years. The accused fled the scene after the crime. Following an investigation, police arrested the husband. According to police, the accused husband has been identified as Rajiv Chandrakant Lala. The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Shalini Devi.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that the couple married in 1993, but had been living separately since 1995 due to domestic disputes. On Saturday night, Rajiv went to his wife’s house in Powai to collect some documents. An argument broke out between the two, and in a fit of rage, Rajiv suffocated Shalini to death with a pillow. After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene in a distraught state.
Mobile Phone and Car Keys Revealed
The DCP stated that after the crime, the accused fled, leaving behind his mobile phone and car keys. When police arrived, they seized these items and began an investigation. These two pieces of evidence led the police to apprehend the accused. The DCP stated that the accused confessed to his crime during interrogation. A murder case has been registered against him.
