Maharashtra: After the announcement of the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra, the brainstorming started regarding seat sharing in the Mahayuti is now over. The solution to the 48 seats which were stuck in the Mahayuti has been found. According to sources, the seat sharing formula and who will contest on which seat has been decided in the meeting held late night at the house of Home Minister Amit Shah for about 4 hours.
This is how the consensus was formed in the Mahayuti
The three parties have also agreed that the seats on which the party has anti-incumbency should be exchanged among themselves to overcome it. According to the decision taken in the meeting, BJP can contest on about 151 seats, while Shiv Sena can contest on 84 and NCP on about 53 seats.
Many top leaders of Mahayuti attended the meeting
The three parties of the state had already formed an alliance on 240 seats, which was placed before the BJP top leadership. According to sources, the 48 seats on which coordination was not possible were put before Amit Shah and JP Nadda late last night. Many top leaders of Mahayuti including CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were present in this meeting.
The Mahayuti alliance includes Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). After the poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Maharashtra elections remain a matter of prestige for the NDA. Assembly elections in Maharashtra (20 November 2024) have been announced and filing of nominations will start in 3 days. It is being told that BJP may also release the first list of candidates soon.
