Mahayuti has won the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has suffered a major setback in the elections. The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday reminded Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of his old statement. In this statement, Shinde had said that if any of the MLAs who supported him in the rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray faced defeat in the assembly elections, he would quit politics.
Five rebel MLAs lost the election
The Uddhav Thackeray-led party in an article in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ reminded Shinde that five of the 40 MLAs who were with him in Guwahati in 2022 have faced defeat in the recent assembly elections. The Shiv Sena (UBT) said in its article that Sada Sarvankar has lost from Mahim, Yamini Jadhav from Byculla, Shahaji Bapu Patil from Sangola, Sanjay Raimulkar from Mehkar and Gyanraj Chougule from Umarga.
Shinde revolted in Shiv Sena in June 2022
In June 2022, Shinde, a minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi, revolted against Thackeray with 40 MLAs. The rebel MLAs first went to Surat in Gujarat and then went to Guwahati in Assam. The rebellion led to the fall of the Thackeray government. After this, Shinde became the Chief Minister with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
