Sharad Pawar on Ajit Pawar: Amid speculations of coming together with nephew Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar has now made a big statement. Without naming Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar said, “Those who do opportunistic politics by joining hands with BJP cannot be encouraged.” This statement of Sharad Pawar has come at a time when there were possibilities of both factions of NCP uniting again.
In fact, on Tuesday, June 17, in a meeting of Nationalist Congress Party (SP) workers in Pimpri Chinchwad, Sharad Pawar said that he is willing to take along those who believe in the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Dr. BR Ambedkar.
‘Going with BJP is against the ideology of NCP’- Sharad Pawar
Sharad Pawar said, “Someone just said that everyone should be taken along. There is no objection to this, but who is ‘everyone’? I can take along those who believe in the ideology of Gandhi-Nehru, Phule and Ambedkar. However, if someone is going with BJP for power, then this is not the ideology of Congress. One can join anyone, but going with BJP cannot be in line with the ideology of NCP.’
‘Don’t worry about the leaders who have left the party’
The NCP SP chief further said that such opportunistic politics cannot be promoted and we should decide the way forward accordingly. Sharad Pawar told the workers not to worry about the leaders who have left the party and prepare for the upcoming local body elections.
It is worth noting that due to the frequent meetings between uncle and nephew on different occasions recently, speculations of a possible merger of Ajit Pawar-led NCP with NCP (SP) had intensified. However, now Sharad Pawar’s statements do not seem to indicate this happening.
