This time in the Maharashtra assembly elections, there was a direct contest between two different rival factions. On one side, Shiv Sena vs Shiv Sena and on the other side, NCP vs NCP. In this direct fight between the two factions, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena defeated Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena on 36 seats, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP defeated Sharad Pawar’s NCP on 29 seats.
The Shinde faction won 57 seats. It had fielded its candidates on 81 seats. On the other hand, Uddhav’s Shiv Sena won only 20 seats while it contested on 95 seats. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena defeated the candidates of the Shinde faction on 14 seats. The vote percentage of Shinde-led Shiv Sena was 12.38 percent. In comparison, the vote percentage of Uddhav-led Shiv Sena was 9.96.
On the other hand, Sharad Pawar’s NCP had to face a crushing defeat. Sharad Pawar’s party won only 10 seats. Out of these, it has won six seats by defeating Ajit Pawar’s party. Sharad Pawar’s NCP had fielded its candidates on 86 seats. On Saturday, the Mahayuti returned to power in Maharashtra by achieving a historic victory with a huge majority.

Mahayuti created history in Maharashtra
Mahayuti (BJP, Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) won 230 seats out of 288 seats. Congress contested the maximum number of 101 seats in Maha Vikas Aghadi. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena had fielded candidates on 95 seats while Sharad Pawar’s NCP had contested on 86 seats. On the other hand, in the Mahayuti, BJP had fielded its candidates on the maximum number of 149 seats. Shinde’s Shiv Sena had contested on 81 seats and Ajit’s had contested on 59 seats.
