Senior Maharashtra leader and former Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal will take oath as minister at 10 am today. This post was vacant after the resignation of Ajit Pawar faction leader Dhananjay Munde. In place of Munde, Chhagan Bhujbal from Ajit faction is now being made a minister. According to information received from Mumbai Police sources, orders have been given to increase police security in Raj Bhavan. This is the first cabinet expansion of the Fadnavis government which is going to happen within just 5 months.
The displeasure of Ajit faction leader Chhagan Bhujbal was revealed many times after the results of the assembly elections. He was not made a minister at that time. This is the reason why he kept expressing his displeasure from time to time.
Bhujbal is also known for rebelling against the Thackeray family. In 1991, Bhujbal caused a big split in Shiv Sena and formed Shiv Sena B party by taking 18 MLAs with him. After this he joined the Congress. Bhujbal has been the Home Minister along with the Deputy CM of the state.
First cabinet expansion of Fadnavis government
Maharashtra government chief Devendra Fadnavis is going to do the first expansion of his cabinet on 20 May. As per the information received now, only one minister will take oath in this expansion. Bhujbal will be included as a minister in the expansion. However, till now there is suspense about his department. It is believed that the department which was with Dhananjay Munde should be given to Bhujbal. There is also no denying that CM Fadnavis can give him a new department as well.
How is Maharashtra’s cabinet
If we talk about the structure of Maharashtra cabinet, there can be a maximum of 43 ministers here. In the cabinet expansion that took place after the formation of the government, at that time BJP had sworn in 19 of its ministers, Shiv Sena 11 and NCP 9 ministers as cabinet ministers. With Bhujbal taking oath as minister, the number of NCP ministers in the government will increase to 10. Apart from this, Ajit Pawar is currently the Deputy CM. He holds the finance department.
