Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday took a dig at his political opponent, Shiv Sena-UBT president Uddhav Thackeray, in a statement. Shinde said Thackeray is holidaying in Europe while his workers are in a ‘coma’. He made the remarks during a party event where he referred to the rebellion in 2022 that led to a split in the Shiv Sena.
Eknath Shinde further said that in the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that self-respecting people revolt against injustice. He said, “Our rebellion was not for power but to protect the symbol of bow and arrow and to uphold the ideals of Balasaheb (Thackeray). Power comes and goes, but integrity once lost cannot be regained. We did not revolt for position, we stood for principles.” Milind Deora had also targeted
Earlier, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora had targeted Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday, saying that when the firing was going on in Pahalgam, Uddhav Thackeray was holidaying in Europe. In a post on ‘X’, Deora said that in contrast, Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde helped the victims. Deora, who was a Congress Lok Sabha member from Mumbai, wrote, “From the sons of the soil to tourists from India, how low has the Thackeray family stooped. When the firing was going on in Pahalgam, they were holidaying in Europe. On Maharashtra Day, they disappeared without saying anything. No statement. No solidarity.” Deora said, “Shinde led from the front, stood with the victims and honored our heroes.” Deora quipped that Maharashtra needs warriors on duty, not part-time leaders who go on holidays.
